How to download an Instagram Reel

Use the link to the individual Reel rather than the creator's profile. The downloader first looks for the available file, then lets you save it.

   Copy the Reel link

   Open the Reel in Instagram and find the copy-link option in the share menu. On a computer, open the Reel itself and copy the address from your browser.

   Paste it into the downloader

   Add the link to the box on this page. You can use Paste, your phone's touch-and-hold menu, Ctrl + V on Windows or Command + V on Mac.

   Check the result

   Select Download to look up the Reel. When the result appears, check the creator, preview and any available video details to make sure it is the post you wanted.

   Save the MP4 file

   Select Download beside the video to save the file through your browser. If you cannot find it afterward, open your browser's Downloads list before trying again.

Reels download quality, MP4 and watermarks

The downloaded Reel is a file made available by Instagram. We transfer it without re-encoding it, but its resolution may differ from the creator's original recording.

• HD depends on the source

  A Reel can be saved in HD when a suitable file is available. Not every post provides 720p or 1080p, and the downloader does not upscale lower-resolution footage. Dimensions appear only when reliable information is available.

• MP4 without a separate converter

  The result downloads as an MP4 video. You do not need to convert it just to save it. If a player cannot open the file, first check that the download has completed, then try another player.

• No watermark added by this site

  We do not place a logo, username or watermark on the video. Any text or watermark already embedded in the source remains visible. The tool does not remove existing overlays.

• No promise of the original camera file

  Instagram may process a video before serving it. Downloading the available copy does not recover the original camera recording or guarantee 4K quality.

Downloading Reels with sound

When the accessible MP4 contains an audio track, that sound stays in the download. Audio availability can vary between posts and between the files Instagram serves.

• Music and original audio

  The tool saves the available video file as it is. It does not add missing music, replace the soundtrack or extract a separate MP3. A download also does not grant permission to reuse someone else's recording or music.

• If your Reel downloads without sound

  Check the volume and mute settings in your player, then compare the file with playback on Instagram. If Instagram plays sound but the downloaded file does not, send us the post link and a description of the problem through the Contact page.

Saving a Reel in Instagram versus downloading it

Instagram's Save action bookmarks a post inside your account. Downloading creates a separate file on your device. Choose the option that matches how you want to use the Reel.

Where to find downloaded Reels on your device

Your browser controls the download location. Saving a file does not always add it to your phone's photo library automatically.

• iPhone and iPad

  After downloading in Safari, check the Files app and your configured Downloads folder. Open the video and use Save Video in the share menu if that option is available to add it to Photos. The exact location depends on your Safari settings.

• Android

  Look in the browser's Downloads list or the Downloads folder in your file manager. If the video is not in your gallery, find the file there first. A completed MP4 can be opened with a compatible video player.

• Windows and Mac

  Use your browser's download list to open the saved file or show its folder. If your browser asks where to save files, choose the folder before starting another download.

Why a Reel might not download

A working Instagram link does not guarantee that the downloader can access its video. Use the message shown above to decide what to try next.

• Invalid link or missing post

  Copy the complete link to the Reel. A deleted or archived post may no longer be available. A link to a private account's content cannot be resolved just because you can view it while signed in.

• Instagram refuses the request

  Instagram can temporarily limit or reject requests from the service. Wait before trying again. If the same public Reel keeps failing, report its link and the error message so the issue can be investigated.

• An old download link stops working

  The media links in a result are temporary. Paste the original Reel link again to request a fresh result. Repeatedly clicking an expired file link will not refresh it.

• The file is missing or incomplete

  Check your browser's download list for a paused or failed transfer. Make sure the device has enough free space. If necessary, resolve the Reel again and download a fresh copy.

Public Reels, private accounts and permission

This downloader works with publicly accessible content and does not use your Instagram session. It cannot fetch a private Reel on your behalf, even when you follow the creator.

• Save content you are allowed to download

  Use the tool for your own Reels or videos you have permission to save. A publicly visible post does not automatically permit reposting, editing or commercial use.

• If you manage the original Reel

  Keep a copy of your original recording when possible. The version available from Instagram may have a different resolution or soundtrack, so it is not a substitute for your original project files.
