Instagram Photo Downloader
Download a photo from a public Instagram post using its link. Paste the post address below, view the available images and save the ones you want. You can use the same page for single photos and carousel posts without installing an app.
Supports public photo posts and carousels. Image size depends on the versions available from Instagram.
How to download an Instagram photo
Copy the address of the post containing the photo. A username or profile address does not identify the individual image you want to save.
- 1
Open the photo post
Find the image in Instagram and open its post. For a carousel, use the link to the whole post even if you only want one of its photos.
- 2
Copy and paste the link
Copy the post link from Instagram's share menu, or copy the address from your browser. Paste it into the field on this page. On a phone, you can touch and hold the field if the Paste button is unavailable.
- 3
View the available images
Select Download to look up the post. Review the returned previews and file details. Carousel items are shown separately so you can identify the photos you need.
- 4
Save your chosen photo
Select Download beside the image. Your browser saves it to the configured download location. For several files, use Download all or save each one separately if your browser limits batch downloads.
Download photos from an Instagram carousel
A carousel is one post containing several photos or videos. Submit its post link once, then choose among the individual items returned by the downloader.
Choose one photo or several
Each returned item has its own download link. You do not need to save every image just to keep one slide. Check the preview before selecting a file.
Use Download all when you need the set
The batch button starts separate file downloads. It does not create a ZIP archive. Your browser may ask for permission to download multiple files; if it blocks them, use the individual links.
Mixed photo and video posts
A carousel can include both images and videos. Available items appear in the same results, with videos offered as MP4 files. Check the item type to avoid downloading a video when you only want a photo.
Check that the results contain what you need
The tool can only show media it successfully retrieves. If an expected slide is missing, request the post again. If it is still missing, report the post link and the affected item through the Contact page.
Photo quality, dimensions and file format
The photo you download is a version available from Instagram. It may have been resized or compressed before reaching this tool, so it is not necessarily the creator's original upload.
The largest available image version
Where the source offers several image sizes, the downloader selects the widest available version. That does not guarantee access to the original camera file. Enlarging a small image afterward cannot restore detail that is no longer present.
Image dimensions are more useful than an HD label
For a photo, check its pixel dimensions when they are shown, or open the downloaded file's properties. The useful size depends on what you plan to do with the image, such as viewing it on a phone or preparing a print.
Saving an image is not converting it
The service transfers the available image rather than offering a choice of JPG, PNG or another output format. Instagram photos are commonly served as JPEG files. If you need a different format, use an image editor after downloading.
No added logo or watermark
This tool does not overlay its own branding on the image. Captions, graphics, signatures or watermarks already part of the photo remain in the downloaded file.
Downloading a photo versus taking a screenshot
A screenshot records what is visible on your screen. A download saves the available image file. Neither method grants permission to reuse someone else's work.
| Feature | Screenshot | Photo download |
|---|---|---|
| What is saved | The visible screen area | An image file retrieved from the post |
| Instagram interface elements | May include buttons and other screen content | No interface elements added by this tool |
| Image size | Depends on the screen and screenshot crop | Depends on the image version Instagram provides |
| Carousel photos | Capture each slide separately | Choose returned items from one result list |
Save Instagram photos on iPhone, Android or computer
The browser's download folder and your photo library are not always the same place. If the image does not appear in your gallery, check the completed download first.
iPhone and iPad
Download the image in Safari and look in the Files app at your chosen download location. Open the image and use Save Image in the share menu if available to add it to Photos. Menu wording and storage location can vary with your settings.
Android phones
Open the browser's Downloads list or the Downloads folder in your file manager. From there, view the image or move it to a photo folder. A gallery app may not display a new browser download immediately.
Windows and Mac
Open the Instagram post in a browser, copy its address and paste it here. After downloading, use the browser's download list to locate the file. You do not need a browser extension or desktop program.
Troubleshooting Instagram photo downloads
Start with the post link and the error shown by the tool. A photo you can see while signed in may still be inaccessible to a service that does not use your Instagram session.
The post cannot be found
Check that you copied the whole post address. The post may have been removed or archived, or the account may now be private. A copied username alone is not enough to identify a photo post.
Instagram blocks the request
Wait before submitting the link again. Instagram may temporarily limit access, and some posts may not be readable by the downloader. Report persistent failures with the post link and the exact error message.
The preview works but the download fails
The file link may have expired, or the browser may have interrupted the transfer. Submit the original post link again for fresh results. Check available storage and your browser's download list as well.
Only some carousel files were saved
Your browser may have blocked multiple downloads. Check which files completed and save the remaining items individually. The Download all button starts separate transfers rather than one archive.
The image looks smaller than expected
Compare the downloaded file's dimensions with your intended use. The source may only offer a smaller copy. The tool cannot recover the original camera resolution or remove compression already applied by Instagram.
Private photos and responsible use
Use this page for your own images or public photos you have permission to save. Public visibility does not automatically permit reposting or commercial use.
Private accounts are not supported
The downloader does not sign in to Instagram for you. Following an account on your phone does not give this service access to its private photo posts.
Keep original files when you have them
If the photo is yours, keep the original image as your main copy. A version downloaded from Instagram may be compressed or resized and should not replace a backup of your original files.
Instagram photo download FAQ
Is this Instagram photo downloader free?
Yes. You can download available images without a fee or subscription. Very frequent requests may trigger a temporary limit.
Can I download a photo without an Instagram login?
Yes, when the photo post is publicly accessible to the tool. You do not need to enter Instagram account details on this site.
Can I download every photo from a profile at once?
No. This page works with individual post links. It does not scan a profile or create a bulk archive of an account's photos.
Does Download all create a ZIP file?
No. It starts a separate download for each returned item. If your browser blocks multiple downloads, use the individual file links.
Can I choose a PNG version of an Instagram photo?
The tool does not provide format conversion. It transfers the available image file. If you need PNG or another format, convert your saved copy with an image editor.
Can I download photos from Instagram Stories here?
No. Stories are not supported. Use the link to a public photo post or carousel instead.
Are the photos saved permanently on your server?
Media files are not stored permanently. Link resolution uses a temporary cache, and the service uses error logs and visitor analytics. The Privacy policy explains data processing and retention.
May I repost a photo after downloading it?
Downloading does not transfer ownership or usage rights. Obtain the necessary permission before republishing the image or using it commercially.
